Out the Window

Hitchcock and Norman Jean Roy

Hitchcock’s sartorial focus, in addition to the beautiful Hitchcock blondes cast as leading ladies, make his films an obvious source for fashion inspiration. In 2008, Vanity Fair dedicated their March issue to the director, paying homage to several of his films. Photographed by Norman Jean Roy, 11 scenes from Hitchcock classics were recreated in an editorial starring contemporary actors. In the restaged Rear Window scene, Scarlett Johansson and Javier Bardem play the peeping Toms Grace Kelly and Jimmy Stewart as they peer into the window of their suspicious acting neighbor.
