Albert Lamorisse and Tim Walker

Directed by Albert Lamorisse, the 1956 short film Le Ballon rouge tells the tale of a boy, played by Lamorisse’s son, and his animate red balloon. Capturing the spirit of childhood innocence, the beloved film has inspired countless artists and storytellers alike. In 2009, photographer Tim Walker shot the fragrance campaign for Miss Dior Cherie, of which Sophie Coppola also directed a short promotional video. The campaign features model Maryna Linchuk, elevated by a cluster of balloons and seemingly suspended over the city of Paris, not unlike the final scene of Le Ballon rouge. What a beautiful display! If you have a child then you may want to check out some balloon songs online on youtube, these will be great for your child to watch to get excited about the magnificent balloon display in Paris, your child will be able to learn and play at the same time!
