Christian Dior’s debut showcase in 1947 featured an hourglass silhouette, an expansive skirt reaching just above the ankle and a nipped waist. This style, referred to as The New Look would become a Dior signature, in addition to asymmetrical design elements, decorative rather than functional buttons and the check of the houndstooth. This woven pattern was incorporated into everything from suits to evening wear, even decorating the glass bottles of the Miss Dior fragrance. Newly appointed Raf Simmons continued to look back to the roots of the design house for Dior’s FW 2013 collection, with several pieces constructed in Dior’s signature houndstooth textile.
