Richard Avedon and Gavin BondFashion has often drawn inspiration from the street and this is most evident in high fashion’s adoption of the utilitarian, workman’s denim. The designer-branded jean was first introduced in the late 70s, spearheaded by brands like Gloria Vanderbilt,  Jordache and Calvin Klein; even New York’s infamous nightclub Studio 54 branded a line of jeans with the tagline, “Now Everyone Can Get into Studio 54.” However, no campaign would propel the jean to high-fashion status more than Richard Avedon’s 1980 campaign starring a then fifteen-year-old Brooke Shields declaring that nothing comes between her and her Calvins. For Radar Magazine’s September 2008 issue, photographer Gavin Bond recreated the famous denim campaign with Kim Kardashian.
